EPFO Foundation Day 2025: PDUNASS Recognized for Governance Initiatives

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) marked its 73rd Foundation Day today at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, with Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, in attendance. The event celebrated significant achievements, including the recognition of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security (PDUNASS) with two prestigious Bhavishya Nidhi Awards for its contributions to capacity building and governance initiatives. The ceremony highlighted EPFO’s commitment to enhancing public service through innovative training and development programs.

Recognition of PDUNASS

During the celebration, PDUNASS received two Bhavishya Nidhi Awards for 2025. The awards recognized the academy’s exceptional performance in two categories: Best Achievement in Capacity Building and a Special Initiative titled “Reimagining Governance: Discourse for Excellence” (RGDE). These accolades underscore the academy’s dedication to improving the skills and competencies of EPFO’s workforce. The awards were presented to Shri Kumar Rohit, Director of PDUNASS, and Shri Uttam Prakash, RPFC-I, who has moderated the RGDE series since its inception.

The RGDE initiative, launched on Good Governance Day in 2023, aims to foster institutional learning and thought leadership. It brings together experts from various fields, including governance, policy, and culture, to discuss ethical public service. Notable speakers have included prominent figures such as Shri Kailash Satyarthi and Dr. Devi Shetty, contributing to a vibrant exchange of ideas that inspire reforms in training and governance practices within EPFO.

Innovative Training Initiatives

PDUNASS has made significant strides in enhancing the capabilities of EPFO’s personnel. In the 2024-25 training cycle, the academy successfully trained 155 newly recruited Assistant Provident Fund Commissioners (APFCs) across three batches. The training focused on functional excellence and behavioral development, equipping participants with essential skills for effective governance.

To further enrich the training experience, PDUNASS introduced innovative learning modules, including “Design Thinking,” developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad, and “Compassion in Governance,” in partnership with the Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion. These programs aim to foster creativity, empathy, and innovation among officer trainees. Additionally, the academy launched initiatives such as “Book Review” and “Delicious Initiatives” to promote teamwork and a culture of continuous learning among staff.

Launch of Coffee Table Book and Exhibition

As part of the Foundation Day celebrations, Union Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya launched a Coffee Table Book titled “Reimagining Governance: Discourse for Excellence.” This publication chronicles the journey and impact of the RGDE series, showcasing the academy’s commitment to excellence in governance. Following the book launch, the Minister inaugurated an EPFO exhibition, where PDUNASS presented key initiatives and publications, including various training booklets and achievements from its campuses across India.

The exhibition served as a platform to highlight the academy’s efforts in promoting effective governance and social security administration. It featured materials such as the RGDE Booklet and the APFC (DR) 2024 Induction Training Booklet, reflecting the academy’s dedication to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Commitment to Service Excellence

The Foundation Day event saw enthusiastic participation from EPFO officers and staff, reinforcing their collective commitment to ethical, people-centric governance. Through transformative initiatives and innovative training programs, PDUNASS continues to strengthen EPFO’s role as a national leader in social security administration and public governance. The celebration not only recognized past achievements but also set the stage for future advancements in the field, emphasizing the importance of ongoing development and excellence in public service.
