Eightfold Co-Founders Secure $35M for Viven, AI Digital Twin Solution

While employees often rely on effective communication to collaborate on projects, their productivity can suffer when key individuals are unavailable. To address this challenge, Ashutosh Garg and Varun Kacholia, co-founders of the AI recruiting startup Eightfold, have launched Viven, a digital twins startup designed to provide employees with access to essential information even when their colleagues are away. Recently emerging from stealth mode, Viven has secured $35 million in seed funding to further its mission.

Innovative Technology Behind Viven

Viven’s core technology revolves around creating a specialized large language model (LLM) for each employee, effectively forming a digital twin. This digital twin accesses internal documents, including emails, Slack messages, and Google Docs, allowing other team members to query it for immediate answers related to ongoing projects. Ashutosh Garg emphasized the ease of interaction, stating, “When each and every person has a digital twin, you can just talk to their twin as if you’re talking to that person and get the response.” This innovation aims to streamline communication and reduce delays caused by the absence of key personnel.

However, the implementation of such technology raises concerns about privacy and information security. Employees often handle sensitive data and may have personal files they wish to keep confidential. To address these issues, Viven employs a concept known as pairwise context and privacy. This allows the LLMs to accurately determine what information can be shared and with whom, ensuring that sensitive details remain protected while still facilitating collaboration.

Privacy Measures and Safeguards

Viven’s LLMs are designed to recognize personal contexts, ensuring that private information, such as inquiries about an employee’s personal life, remains confidential. A significant feature of the platform is the visibility of query history for each digital twin, which serves as a deterrent against inappropriate questions. This transparency is crucial in fostering a respectful and secure environment for all employees. Ashu Garg from Foundation Capital acknowledged the complexity of this challenge, noting that it was considered unsolvable until recent advancements in technology.

The startup has already begun to make strides in the enterprise sector, with clients like Genpact and Eightfold utilizing its services. Garg and Kacholia continue to manage both Viven and Eightfold, balancing their time between the two ventures. As Viven gains traction, it aims to redefine how teams communicate and collaborate, particularly in environments where remote work and time zone differences are prevalent.

Market Position and Future Prospects

As Viven establishes itself in the market, it faces minimal direct competition in the realm of digital twins for enterprises. Garg initially questioned the uniqueness of the concept and consulted with investor Vinod Khosla, who confirmed that no other company was pursuing a similar approach. This endorsement helped secure funding and validate Viven’s innovative direction.

Despite the current lack of competitors, Garg acknowledges that other tech giants, such as Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI, could potentially enter the digital twin space in the future. These companies have existing products that incorporate personalization features. However, Viven aims to maintain its competitive edge through its unique pairwise context technology, which it hopes will serve as a protective barrier against emerging rivals.
