EA Unveils New Star Wars Game: Zero Company

Electronic Arts (EA) has officially announced its upcoming Star Wars game, titled “Star Wars Zero Company,” following recent leaks. This single-player, turn-based tactics game is being developed by Bit Reactor in partnership with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. EA plans to showcase the first details of the game at the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan on April 19.

Star Wars Zero Company: A New Tactical Adventure

EA confirmed the existence of Star Wars Zero Company on Monday, shortly after screenshots of the game surfaced online. The announcement was made via the official Star Wars website, which also released key art featuring a team of operatives from the Star Wars universe. The game invites players to “recruit an unconventional team of operatives and deploy them on missions unlike any other in the galaxy far, far away.” This new title promises to offer a unique blend of strategy and storytelling within the beloved franchise.

Details about the game remain sparse, but EA has confirmed that it will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X. Attendees at the Star Wars Celebration Japan will get an exclusive first look at the game during a panel scheduled for April 19 at 4:30 PM JST (1 PM IST). This event is highly anticipated by fans eager to learn more about the latest addition to the Star Wars gaming universe.

Development Team and Technology Behind the Game

Star Wars Zero Company is being developed using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, a powerful tool that allows for stunning graphics and immersive gameplay. The project is being directed by Greg Foertsch, who previously served as art director on acclaimed strategy games like XCOM 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Both Respawn and Bit Reactor are actively hiring for various positions related to the game’s development, including roles such as Senior Mission Designer and Senior Graphics Engineer.

The collaboration between Respawn and Bit Reactor is noteworthy, as Respawn is well-known for its successful Star Wars Jedi series, which includes the recent title, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The studio is also working on the concluding chapter of Jedi knight Cal Kestis’ story, further solidifying its commitment to the Star Wars franchise.

What Lies Ahead for Star Wars Gaming Fans

With the announcement of Star Wars Zero Company, EA continues to expand its portfolio of Star Wars games, catering to a diverse audience of fans. The upcoming title aims to blend tactical gameplay with the rich lore of the Star Wars universe, offering players a fresh experience. As anticipation builds for the first look at the game during the Star Wars Celebration, fans are eager to see how this new strategy game will fit into the larger Star Wars gaming landscape.
