DRDO and RRU Join Forces to Boost Defence Research
The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has teamed up with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) to advance research and education in the fields of defence and internal security. This significant partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 22, 2025, in New Delhi, enhancing India’s capabilities in self-reliance for defence technologies. The signing ceremony was attended by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, along with other prominent officials from both organizations.
Dr. Chandrika Kaushik, Distinguished Scientist and Director General of Production Coordination and Services Interaction at DRDO, and Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N Patel, Vice Chancellor of RRU, penned the MoU in a ceremony held at the South Block. The event underscored a collective vision aimed at integrating technological innovation and operational insights for bolstering national security.
Strengthening India’s Defence Capabilities
This collaboration aligns with the Indian government’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, promoting a self-sufficient approach during the ongoing Amrit Kaal. The MoU signifies both organizations’ dedication to enhancing India’s strategic autonomy in internal security through joint efforts in advanced technologies and knowledge sharing.
Rashtriya Raksha University, recognized as an institution of national importance by the Ministry of Home Affairs, is pivotal in offering policy expertise, training, and academic knowledge in internal security. On the other hand, the DRDO stands as the nation’s leading body for defence R&D, providing innovative technologies tailored to meet the evolving requirements of the Armed Forces and various security agencies.
Collaborative Initiatives Ahead
As part of this agreement, DRDO and RRU will engage in various collaborative initiatives. These include joint research projects, PhD programs, fellowships, and specialized training aimed at enhancing the skills of security forces. The initiatives will also focus on critical areas such as emerging operational challenges, technology gap analyses, and life-cycle management of systems developed by DRDO that are in service with the Central Armed Police Forces and other agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
