Insights from Keynote Speakers
During the inaugural session, Dr. Neeraj Mittal emphasized the dual nature of AI, stating, “While the title of the summit is AI for Good, there is equally AI for Bad.” He highlighted the risks associated with AI, such as deep fakes and financial fraud, urging vigilance as the telecom sector transitions from 5G to 6G. Dr. Mittal noted the potential of AI to enhance network intelligence and improve customer service. He also mentioned the Indian government’s commitment to creating a trusted and inclusive AI ecosystem through the $1.25 billion IndiaAI Mission, which aims to ensure technology serves as a force for trust and progress.
Mr. Bilel Jamoussi commended India’s proactive approach to promoting responsible AI and digital inclusion. He stressed the importance of international collaboration to address challenges like AI misuse, data privacy, and cybersecurity vulnerabilities. The presence of senior representatives from UN agencies, the DoT, and the private sector underscored the significance of ethical frameworks in ensuring that AI technologies deliver meaningful social impact.
Engaging Discussions and Initiatives
The conference featured a range of sessions addressing critical topics such as AI governance, cybersecurity, and disaster management. Discussions included “AI Governance in Action: Bridging Policy and Practice,” “AI and Cybersecurity,” and “Advancing Disaster Management with Autonomous Robots for a Resilient Future.” These sessions aimed to emphasize AI safety, ethical frameworks, and risk management while promoting digital inclusion and international cooperation.
A notable initiative unveiled during the summit was the “Innovation Factory,” a collaborative platform developed by the DoT and ITU. This initiative showcased contributions from various AI startups, providing a dynamic environment for innovative solutions to global challenges. The summit served as a vital platform for thought leaders and innovators to explore AI’s role in driving inclusive and sustainable digital transformation, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
