Dia Mirza Demands Media Apology for Rhea Chakraborty

Actress Dia Mirza has publicly called for a media apology to Rhea Chakraborty following the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) conclusion that ruled out foul play in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Mirza criticized the media’s portrayal of Chakraborty during the investigation, highlighting the emotional distress caused by sensational reporting.

Media’s Role Under Scrutiny

In a recent Instagram post, Dia Mirza expressed her discontent with how the media handled the case, particularly regarding Rhea Chakraborty. She stated, “Who in the media will have the grace to put out a written apology to Rhea Chakraborty and her family? You went on a witch hunt. You caused deep anguish and harassment just for TRPs. Apologize. That’s the very least you can do.” Mirza’s comments come after the CBI’s report cleared Rhea and her family of any wrongdoing, a significant development in a case that has captivated public attention since the tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020.

The media’s aggressive coverage of the investigation has been criticized for contributing to a narrative that vilified Rhea Chakraborty. Many believe that the relentless pursuit of sensational stories overshadowed the facts of the case, leading to widespread misinformation and public outrage.

Legal Challenges and Public Pressure

Rhea Chakraborty faced severe scrutiny after her arrest in September 2020, alongside her brother Showik, as part of a drug investigation linked to Rajput’s death. Despite spending nearly a month in jail, she was granted bail due to a lack of substantial evidence against her. Her lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, has also spoken out about the media’s treatment of Rhea, describing it as inhumane and relentless. He emphasized that the family endured significant pressure and threats during the investigation, yet remained resolute in their quest to clear their names.

Maneshinde further criticized the media’s role in perpetuating false narratives, suggesting that the public’s demand for sensational news fueled the coverage. He highlighted the emotional toll this ordeal has taken on Rhea and her family, calling for accountability from those who participated in the media trial.

CBI Report and Calls for Accountability

The CBI’s final report, which concluded that there was no evidence of wrongdoing by Rhea or her brother, marks a pivotal moment in the case. This finding has prompted public figures like Dia Mirza to urge the media to acknowledge its role in spreading baseless allegations. With the case now officially closed, the demand for a public apology reflects a broader call for accountability in media practices, especially in high-profile cases that attract significant public interest.
