Dhurandhar The Revenge Won’t Get IMAX Upgrade; Sequel Set for Non-IMAX Release

Last Saturday, March 7, the highly anticipated sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, opened its advance bookings for paid previews, set to take place on the evening of March 18. As of today, March 14, fans can also secure tickets for the extended four-day weekend. The excitement surrounding the film is palpable, especially following the success of its predecessor, Dhurandhar (2025), which was released in IMAX. However, it has been confirmed that the sequel will not be available in the premium IMAX format, although it will still be screened in IMAX theaters in a non-IMAX version.

Non-IMAX Screening for *Dhurandhar: The Revenge*

An industry source has revealed that while *Dhurandhar: The Revenge* will be shown in IMAX theaters across India, it will not be in the traditional IMAX format. Instead, audiences will experience a non-IMAX version of the film. Despite this, the source emphasized that the film promises to be a grand cinematic spectacle, making it worthwhile for viewers to watch it on IMAX screens. The anticipation for this sequel is heightened by the positive reception of the first film, which has set a high bar for its follow-up.

Release Schedule and Competition

Initially, *Dhurandhar: The Revenge* was scheduled to compete with the Yash-starrer *Toxic* on March 19. However, recent developments have seen *Toxic* pushed to a June 4 release. This shift has opened up opportunities for *Dhurandhar: The Revenge*, especially since no other IMAX films are currently performing well at the box office. An insider noted that had both films been released simultaneously, *Toxic* could have potentially benefited from an IMAX conversion, but the current landscape favors *Dhurandhar*.

Upcoming Releases and Cast Details

In addition to *Dhurandhar: The Revenge*, another notable film, *Project Hail Mary*, featuring Ryan Gosling, is set to hit Indian cinemas on March 26. This film will be released in IMAX format, raising questions about whether it will share IMAX screenings with *Dhurandhar: The Revenge*. The cast of both films includes prominent actors such as Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. The sequel is produced by Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios and Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar of B62 Studios, with Aditya Dhar also taking on the roles of writer and director.

As the release date approaches, the excitement for *Dhurandhar: The Revenge* continues to build, with fans eagerly awaiting the chance to experience the sequel on the big screen.
