Department of Sports Announces Completion of Special Campaign 5.0

The Department of Sports has made a notable impact through its collaboration with various organizations, including the Sports Authority of India and the National Anti-Doping Agency, as part of the Special Campaign 5.0 initiated by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances. Running from October 2 to October 31, 2025, the campaign aimed to integrate cleanliness principles into the department’s operations while addressing long-standing issues. The launch of the Fit India Swachhata Freedom Run 6.0 on October 2 marked the beginning of this initiative, emphasizing the themes of “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat.”

Campaign Achievements and Public Engagement

Throughout the campaign, the Department of Sports effectively tackled numerous pending issues, resolving 15 references from Members of Parliament and four from state governments. Additionally, the department addressed 100 public grievances and fulfilled one Parliamentary Assurance. Senior officials closely monitored the campaign to ensure that all targets were met with accuracy and timeliness. The initiative also focused on improving file management, with 290 physical files reviewed, resulting in the disposal of 55 unnecessary documents. Furthermore, the review of 280 electronic files marked a significant advancement in digital record-keeping.

Cleanliness Drives and Environmental Impact

On the ground, the campaign organized cleanliness drives at 50 designated sites, including field offices and headquarters of the affiliated organizations. This collective effort led to the reclamation of 390,000 square feet of space, which has been repurposed for practical use. The campaign also prioritized sustainability, generating revenue of over ₹4 crore through scrap disposal. This financial outcome highlights the department’s commitment to resourcefulness and environmental responsibility while promoting cleanliness.

Social Media Outreach and Community Involvement

To enhance the campaign’s visibility, the Department of Sports and its associated organizations actively engaged on social media, sharing 55 tweets that utilized hashtags such as #SpecialCampaign5 and #SwachhBharat. This digital outreach aimed to amplify the campaign’s message and encourage community participation in cleanliness efforts. By leveraging social media platforms, the department sought to inspire a broader audience to embrace the principles of cleanliness and health.

Setting a Standard for Governance

Through these initiatives, the Department of Sports has not only reinforced the importance of cleanliness but also demonstrated effective governance practices. The successful execution of the Special Campaign 5.0 serves as a model for other departments, showcasing how practical measures can lead to meaningful outcomes. By prioritizing cleanliness and addressing long-standing issues, the department has set a commendable example for public service and community engagement.
