DELIVERY OF FIRST MCA BARGE, LSAM 7 (YARD 75) AT INS TUNIR, MUMBAI

The contract for the construction of 08 x Missile Cum Munition (MCA) Barge has been concluded with M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd, Visakhapatnam, an MSME, in consonance with the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives of the Government of India. First barge of the LSAM 7 series (Yard 75) was handed over to the Indian Navy it’s July 18, 23 in the presence of Commander Iftekhar Alam, Commander, INS Tunir. The barge was built to Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) classification rules with a service life of 30 years. With all main/auxiliary equipment sourced from local manufacturers, the barge is the proud flagship of the MoD’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The introduction of MCA barges will give impetus to the operational commitments of IN facilitating Transportation, Embarkation and Disembarkation of items/ammunition a IN Ships both along the docks and in outer ports.
