DARPG Promotes Cleanliness and Administrative Efficiency with Special Campaign 5.0
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has successfully wrapped up its Special Campaign 5.0, aimed at enhancing cleanliness and reducing backlog within government operations. The campaign commenced with a preparatory phase from September 15 to September 30, 2025, followed by an implementation phase that ran from October 1 to October 31, 2025. The initiative was marked by the launch of a dedicated portal for real-time monitoring of activities across 84 ministries and departments.
Launch of the Campaign
The Special Campaign 5.0 was officially launched by Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, on September 16, 2025, at the National Media Centre. This event marked the beginning of the preparatory phase, during which the newly developed portal was introduced. The portal, managed by DARPG, allows for real-time tracking and visualization of the campaign’s progress. On October 1, 2025, the implementation phase kicked off with a community service event at Nehru Park in New Delhi, where Dr. Singh, along with other senior officials, participated in cleanliness activities.
Ministerial Review and Cyber Hygiene Workshop
On October 7, 2025, a ministerial review of the campaign took place at DARPG. Dr. Singh and Secretary V. Srinivas, along with senior officials, inspected the office premises. They focused on the disposal of e-waste and participated in shredding outdated files and records. Additionally, on October 8, DARPG organized a “Cyber Swachhata” Workshop in collaboration with CERT-In, part of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. This workshop aimed to promote digital hygiene, cybersecurity, and safe e-office practices, extending the campaign’s cleanliness objectives into the digital realm.
Achievements of the Campaign
The Special Campaign 5.0 yielded significant internal achievements for the DARPG. Notably, the department successfully resolved 348 public grievances and appeals during the campaign. In terms of file management, DARPG reviewed a total of 950 physical files, resulting in the disposal of 195 files. Furthermore, 2,016 e-office files were reviewed, with 468 files being closed. These efforts reflect the department’s commitment to improving efficiency and reducing backlog.
Environmental Impact and Revenue Generation
The campaign also focused on the disposal of e-waste, which included old computers, printers, and other electronic devices. This initiative not only contributed to a cleaner environment but also generated revenue of ₹1,22,720. Additionally, the disposal of obsolete files and e-waste freed up over 300 square feet of office space, demonstrating the campaign’s dual focus on cleanliness and operational efficiency. Overall, the Special Campaign 5.0 has made significant strides in promoting a cleaner and more efficient administrative environment.
