Gold prices held steady across major Indian cities on Tuesday, while silver prices soared to unprecedented levels amid ongoing global uncertainty and increased safe-haven buying. The price of gold experienced a slight decline after reaching record highs, with February gold on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) dropping by Rs 196, or 0.14%, to Rs 1,41,836 per 10 grams. In international markets, Comex gold fell by 0.33% to USD 4,599.44 per ounce, while silver prices surged, trading near record levels at USD 85.20 per ounce.
Silver Prices Surge Amid Global Tensions
Silver prices have seen a remarkable increase, with futures on the MCX hitting a new all-time high of Rs 2,72,202 per kg for March delivery, marking an increase of Rs 3,232 or 1.2%. Over the past two trading sessions, silver prices have surged by Rs 19,477, or 7.7%. This spike is attributed to rising geopolitical tensions in Iran and uncertainty surrounding the U.S. Federal Reserve’s policy direction. In the international markets, Comex silver was trading close to record levels at USD 85.20 per ounce after surpassing the USD 86 mark in the previous session, driven by strong demand for safe-haven assets.
Gold Prices Across Major Indian Cities
In Delhi, the price of 24-karat gold reached Rs 14,268 per gram, reflecting an increase of Rs 38. The 22-karat gold price rose by Rs 35 to Rs 13,080 per gram, while the 18-karat variant increased by Rs 29 to Rs 10,705 per gram. In Mumbai, 24-karat gold was priced at Rs 14,253 per gram, also up by Rs 38. The 22-karat gold rate stood at Rs 13,065 per gram, up Rs 35, and the 18-karat gold rose by Rs 29 to Rs 10,690 per gram.
In Chennai, gold prices were comparatively higher, with 24-karat gold increasing by Rs 55 to Rs 14,368 per gram. The 22-karat gold price rose by Rs 50 to Rs 13,170 per gram, while the 18-karat variant climbed by Rs 35 to Rs 10,980 per gram. Other cities, including Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, reported similar trends, with 24-karat gold prices ranging from Rs 14,253 to Rs 14,268 per gram, reflecting consistent increases across the board.

In Ahmedabad, 24-karat gold was priced at Rs 14,258 per gram, up Rs 38, while the 22-karat rate rose by Rs 35 to Rs 13,070 per gram. Hyderabad mirrored this trend, with 24-karat gold priced at Rs 14,253 per gram, up Rs 38. In Bhubaneswar, the price for 24-karat gold also stood at Rs 14,253 per gram, reflecting similar increases across various regions.
In Jaipur, 24-karat gold was priced at Rs 14,268 per gram, up Rs 38, while the 22-karat rate rose by Rs 35 to Rs 13,080 per gram. Lucknow reported 24-karat gold at Rs 14,268 per gram, with a slight increase in the 22-karat rate to Rs 13,046 per gram.
