Citizens Encouraged to Enhance ECINet App Ahead of Launch
The Election Commission of India is calling on citizens to download the new ECINet App and contribute their feedback via the ‘Submit a Suggestion’ feature. This initiative allows people to share their insights and is open until January 10, 2026, aiming to enhance the app’s functionality and user experience.
The ECINet App has been developed to streamline voter services, offering faster access to polling percentage trends and the publication of index cards within 72 hours of polls closing. This significant improvement was realized during the recent Bihar Assembly Elections in 2025 and subsequent bye-elections, reducing a process that typically took weeks or even months.
Regular enhancements are being made to the app, with continuous updates informed by feedback from Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Electoral Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), observers, and field officials. Citizen suggestions will be thoroughly reviewed, and the platform will undergo further modifications to ensure it meets user needs effectively. An official launch of the ECINet platform is anticipated later this month.
Integration of Services
One of the key innovations introduced by the Election Commission under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar, alongside Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, is the ECINet App. Development of this comprehensive app commenced following its announcement on May 4, 2025. The app stands out by consolidating previous tools and resources into a single, unified platform.
Previously, voters had access to around 40 separate applications and websites managing various electoral services. The ECINet App integrates these into one user-friendly interface, merging tools like the Voter Helpline App, cVIGIL, Saksham, Polling Trends, and the Know Your Candidate App. This consolidation aims to simplify the voting process for citizens and enhance their engagement with electoral services.
The ECINet App is readily available for download on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. By encouraging active participation from citizens, the Election Commission is poised to create a more effective and accessible electoral experience, reflecting the needs and preferences of voters.
