Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) Grants Support to 18 Start-ups

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), an autonomous research and development institution under the Government of India’s Department of Telecommunications, has launched the โSamarthโ Program. This innovative incubation initiative aims to support startups in the Telecom and ICT sectors. In its inaugural phase, 18 startups have been selected through a competitive process to receive financial grants, office space, and access to advanced lab facilities in Delhi and Bengaluru.
Support for Startups
The โSamarthโ Program is designed to provide comprehensive support to startups and innovators focusing on various fields, including telecom applications, cybersecurity, 5G/6G technologies, artificial intelligence, IoT, and quantum technologies. Each cohort lasts for six months and can accommodate up to 18 startups, allowing the program to support a total of 36 startups over its duration. The initiative is a collaborative effort with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) serving as implementation partners.
Startups selected for the program will benefit from a grant of up to โน5 lakh, fully furnished office space for six months, and access to C-DOTโs lab facilities. Additionally, they will receive mentorship from C-DOT technologists and external experts. The program aims to help these startups transition from the ideation phase to commercialization, fostering sustainable and scalable business models.
Selection Process and Criteria
A distinguished Selection Committee, comprising members from academia, industry, C-DOT, and STPI, evaluated the applicants based on several criteria. These included the quality of their pitch, the relevance and innovation of their ideas, product potential, team strength, execution capability, and alignment with specific problem statements. Following this rigorous assessment, the committee announced the 18 selected startups for Cohort-I, which can be viewed on C-DOT’s official websites.
The selected startups include Turtleneck Systems & Solutions, Matisoft Cyber Security Labs, Revino Solutions, and several others. Each startup brings unique innovations to the table, contributing to the diverse landscape of the telecom and ICT sectors.
Launch Event Highlights
The launch event for the โSamarthโ Program was attended by notable dignitaries, including Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, and Sh. Arvind Kumar, DG of STPI. During the event, each selected startup received the first tranche of funding. Both the CEO of C-DOT and the DG of STPI praised the collaboration between their organizations in fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem.
The event also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between C-DOT and STPI, outlining potential areas for collaboration, including mentorship, training, and joint initiatives. This partnership aims to enhance the support provided to startups and ensure their continued growth and success in the competitive telecom landscape.
The โSamarthโ Program represents a significant step forward in nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship within Indiaโs telecom and ICT sectors, providing essential resources and support to emerging startups.
