CBFC Renames ‘Railway Mantri’ to ‘Bada Mantri’ in Exclusive Update

All eyes are on the highly anticipated release of Raid 2, which hits theaters this week. Starring renowned actors Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and Vaani Kapoor, the film promises to deliver an exciting cinematic experience. Notably, this sequel features Riteish in a rare villainous role, while the beloved character played by Saurabh Shukla from the first installment, Raid (2018), makes a return. As the film gears up for its May 1 release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has already issued its rating, revealing some intriguing details about the film’s content.

Censor Certification Process and Changes

Typically, the censor process for films begins a few weeks prior to their release, with certification usually granted about a week to ten days before. However, *Raid 2* received its certification unusually early, on March 28, 2025, more than two months ahead of its scheduled release. This early approval has raised eyebrows in the industry. Fortunately for fans, the CBFC did not impose any visual cuts, allowing all action and violent scenes to remain intact. However, they did request modifications to two specific dialogues. The term “Railway Mantri” was changed to “Bada Mantri,” and an eight-second dialogue containing “Paisa, hathyar, taakat” was removed entirely.

New Rating and Film Length

Following the requested changes, *Raid 2* was awarded a U/A 7+ certificate, a new rating introduced in November 2024. This rating indicates that the film is suitable for viewers aged seven and older. Notably, *Raid 2* is likely the first major Hindi film to receive this specific rating, setting a precedent for future releases. The film’s runtime is officially listed at 150.53 minutes, translating to approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, making it a substantial cinematic experience for audiences.

Returning Characters and Direction

In *Raid 2*, Ajay Devgn reprises his role as the principled officer Amay Patnaik, continuing the story from the first film. The sequel is once again directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who aims to build on the success of the original. The return of familiar characters, alongside the introduction of new ones, is expected to enhance the narrative and engage viewers. With its blend of action, drama, and a compelling storyline, *Raid 2* is poised to capture the attention of both fans and newcomers alike.
