Caregiver of Raveena Tandon’s Mother Nabbed in Rs. 25 Lakh Jewelry Heist
A shocking case of alleged theft has surfaced involving the family of actress Raveena Tandon. The Mumbai Police have arrested a 47-year-old caregiver, Rashi Chhabria, for reportedly stealing jewellery and luxury items valued at approximately Rs. 25 lakhs from the residence of Tandon’s mother, Veena Tandon, and her brother, Rajiv Tandon.
The caregiver had been employed by the Tandon family since 2020, serving as the primary caregiver for the 86-year-old Veena Tandon. Over the years, Chhabria earned the family’s trust and was granted access to various areas of their home, including private sections that were typically off-limits to others.
Discovery of Missing Valuables
The alleged theft came to light during the Dussehra festivities last year when family members noticed several valuable items were missing. Reports indicate that the stolen items included gold and diamond jewellery, such as bangles, earrings, and a mangalsutra, along with expensive watches belonging to Rajiv Tandon. The total estimated value of the missing items is around Rs. 25 lakhs.
Following the discovery of the theft, Rajiv Tandon filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police and began efforts to trace the missing valuables. Initial investigations did not yield any significant leads, as Chhabria reportedly denied any involvement in the matter. However, as police gathered more evidence, suspicions began to mount against her.
Arrest and Ongoing Investigation
The case took a significant turn when police arrested Chhabria in connection with the alleged theft. Investigators believe that she may have broken into a locker within the Tandon residence to remove the valuables. Following her arrest, the Mumbai Police managed to recover a portion of the missing jewellery and luxury accessories.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to trace and recover the remaining items. They are also looking into whether any additional individuals may have been involved in the alleged crime.
