Canadian Dude Dubs Bengaluru and Aizawl Traffic as a Symphony of Chaos!
A Canadian man living in India has gone viral for his eye-opening video comparing noise pollution levels in two Indian cities. Caleb Friesen, who resides in Aizawl, shared a side-by-side clip of traffic noise during rush hour in Bengaluru and Aizawl. His video highlights the stark contrast between the chaotic honking in Bengaluru and the serene atmosphere in Aizawl, where a no-honking policy is in place.
The Sound of Silence in Aizawl
In his video, Friesen begins by showcasing the cacophony of Bengaluru’s traffic at 7:00 PM. “Indians deserve better from each other. Just listen to this,” he remarks, as the sounds of honking and revving engines fill the air. Moments later, he transitions to Aizawl, where the scene is remarkably different. “This is actually where I live, by the way. Notice how there’s no honking,” he explains, emphasizing the city’s no-honking policy enforced by local authorities.
Respect on the Roads
Friesen points out that despite Aizawl’s narrow and steep roads, drivers adhere to traffic rules without complaint. “A lot of people don’t realize that most of the roads here are just one lane wide. But still, people wait their turn,” he notes. Instead of honking, drivers dip their headlights for oncoming vehicles, showcasing a mutual respect that Friesen believes could benefit the rest of India.
Social Media Reactions
Since its release, Friesen’s video has garnered over 642,000 views and 42,000 likes, igniting discussions among viewers. Many social media users echoed his sentiments, with comments ranging from agreement to frustration over the honking culture in cities like Bengaluru. One user remarked, “Driving in Bangalore? Forget logic! It’s a free-for-all where anyone can pop up from anywhere.”
Friesen’s video not only highlights the noise pollution issue but also encourages a conversation about respect and consideration on the roads.
