BSNL Reports Strong Q1 Results, Focuses on Growth and Quality

The first quarter results of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for the fiscal year 2026-27 were unveiled at a Strategic Review and Planning Meeting (SRPM) held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Chaired by Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the meeting included key stakeholders such as Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Secretary (Telecommunications) Shri Amit Agarwal, senior officials from the Department of Telecommunications, and BSNL’s Chairman and Managing Director Shri A. Robert J. Ravi, along with Chief General Managers from various states.

During the meeting, the financial and operational metrics of BSNL were reviewed, with Minister Scindia emphasizing a robust start to the financial year. BSNL is on track to achieve double-digit growth in operating revenue, a testament to its successful business strategies and operational improvements compared to the previous year.

Core Business Areas Drive Revenue Growth

BSNL’s operations are segmented into three primary business verticals: Enterprise Business, Consumer Mobility, and Consumer Fixed Access (CFA). Provisional figures indicate that the Enterprise Business segment has emerged as a major contributor, showcasing an impressive 19% growth in the first quarter. Specific states such as Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Assam have particularly excelled, exemplifying the potential of targeted execution.

Consumer Mobility also performed well, noting an 8% year-on-year revenue increase. Circles including Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand significantly surpassed their quarterly revenue goals, contributing to an overall positive trajectory for BSNL.

In terms of Consumer Fixed Access, BSNL has maintained steady performance with its subscriber base showing slight growth. Notable advancements came from the Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh (West), and Karnataka Circles.

Commitment to Quality of Service

While financial results demonstrate progress, BSNL is equally focused on enhancing the Quality of Service (QoS). The meeting extensively reviewed key performance indicators like network availability and customer experience, which are essential for maintaining consistent service delivery nationwide. Continuous improvement in these areas is crucial for BSNL’s long-term growth strategy.

A highlight from the review meeting was the commendation of outstanding Circle Heads from Punjab, Haryana, Kerala, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Odisha for their exceptional performance in Q1. Each Circle General Manager shared successful strategies and initiatives, fostering a culture of excellence and collaborative learning within the organization.

The initial quarter results set a promising foundation for BSNL as it aims to sustain its growth momentum while enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Positioned strongly within the telecommunications sector, BSNL is set on an accelerated path of transformation, reinforcing its role as a reliable telecom service provider in India.
