Border 2 Takes Over: Midnight Screenings and Nationwide Theatre Expansion Announced
Border 2 has made a remarkable debut, receiving enthusiastic praise from both audiences and critics. Anticipating a strong box office performance over the weekend, theaters are responding by increasing the number of showings. MovieMax, a leading cinema chain, has already scheduled post-midnight screenings of the war drama for Saturday, January 24, reflecting the film’s growing popularity.
Post-Midnight Showings Across Major Cities
In a bid to accommodate the rising demand for Border 2, MovieMax has organized multiple post-midnight screenings in key locations. In Mumbai, viewers can catch the film at MovieMax Huma Kanjurmarg at 1:20 am, while MovieMax Mira Road and MovieMax Sion will host a 1:15 am show. Pune’s MovieMax Amanora is set to feature an impressive six shows between midnight and 8:00 am, with timings at 1:15 am, 1:45 am, 2:15 am, 3:00 am, 7:00 am, and 7:30 am. This venue will showcase a total of 30 screenings of Border 2 throughout the day. Additionally, MovieMax Gold in Pune will present three post-midnight shows at 1:15 am, 2:15 am, and 3:15 am, while MovieMax Nagpur will offer a 1:15 am screening.
Other Cinemas Join the Trend
The trend of late-night screenings is not limited to MovieMax. Other cinema chains are also adapting to the film’s popularity. Maxus, known for pioneering post-midnight shows, will screen Border 2 at 12:45 am, followed by a 7:00 am showing at their Bhayander location near Mumbai. PVR Sangam in Andheri East has scheduled a 1:55 am screening. As demand continues to grow, more cinemas are expected to join in, offering additional late-night and early morning shows. These screenings will not only take place on January 24 but will also extend to Sunday, January 25, and Monday, January 26, which is a national holiday in observance of Republic Day.
Star-Studded Cast and Box Office Expectations
Border 2 features a talented ensemble cast, including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. With the film generating overwhelmingly positive buzz and the addition of late-night screenings, it is poised to achieve significant box office success over the weekend and during the Republic Day holiday. Industry experts predict that Border 2 could set new records for January box office collections across the country.
The Rise of Post-Midnight Screenings
The trend of post-midnight screenings has gained traction in the post-pandemic era, with films like Sooryavanshi (2021) leading the way. This practice has been embraced by several successful releases, including Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), Drishyam 2 (2022), Jawan (2023), and Pathaan (2023). Border 2 follows in the footsteps of these hits, with Dhurandhar being the last film to feature post-midnight shows before its release. As audiences continue to seek out late-night entertainment options, the trend is likely to persist in the coming years.
