Bhawani Prasad Mishra (29 March 1913 โ 20 February 1985) was a Hindi poet and author. He was honored with the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1972 for his book Buni Hui Rassi.
Life and Career
Bhawani Prasad Mishra was born on 29 March 1913, in Uttar Pradesh, India. He received his early education in his hometown and later moved to Varanasi to pursue higher education. He studied at the Kashi Vidyapeeth and earned a masterโs degree in Hindi literature. Mishra was deeply interested in literature and was influenced by the works of renowned poets such as Tulsidas, Kabir, and Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.
After completing his education, Bhawani Prasad Mishra started his career as a teacher. He taught Hindi literature at various schools and colleges in Uttar Pradesh. He was also actively involved in literary activities and participated in poetry recitals and seminars. Mishra’s poetry was widely appreciated for its simplicity, depth, and philosophical themes.
Bhawani Prasad Mishra passed away on 20 February 1985, in Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh, India.
Award and Legacy
Bhawani Prasad Mishra won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1965 for his collection of poems titled “Buni Hui Rassi.”
In 1973, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India, for his contributions to literature and education.
