The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is set to host the **BHASHINI Samudaye: Strengthening India’s Language AI Ecosystem** workshop on **January 13, 2026**, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. This initiative, led by the Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), aims to unite language experts, academics, civil society organizations, and data practitioners to collaboratively develop and enhance language AI solutions across India.

The workshop marks a significant stride toward fulfilling the objectives of the National Language Translation Mission (NLTM), which seeks to break down language barriers and ensure that digital services are accessible in every Indian language. The event will kick off with welcome remarks and a formal inauguration, setting the stage for discussions centered on creating a united and inclusive language AI ecosystem, driven by public digital infrastructure and ethical data practices.

During the workshop, senior officials from MeitY and DIBD will present the vision for a coordinated language AI landscape. A highlight of the event will be a **fireside chat** featuring **Shri Amitabh Nag**, CEO of the Digital India BHASHINI Division. He will share insights on the progression of BHASHINI into a national language AI platform and the importance of partnerships within the ecosystem to expand multilingual AI applications in governance, education, and public service.

Participants can look forward to focused sessions aimed at scaling the BHASHINI initiative. Topics will include platform capabilities, strategic priorities, and collaborative pathways with various institutions and implementation partners. **Shri Shailendra Pal Singh**, Senior General Manager at DIBD, will unveil the roadmap for BHASHINI’s expansion and ecosystem engagement during these discussions.

Furthermore, attendees will engage in a session dedicated to the **BHASHINI Samudaye Platform**, which will feature structured presentations and feedback from various stakeholders. This aims to enhance participatory governance and foster collaboration. The workshop is also set to showcase real-world applications of BHASHINI, including live demonstrations and an exploration of **BhashaDaan**, the citizen contribution platform, presented by **Shri Ajay Singh Rajawat**.

Post-lunch sessions will provide insights into the **Expression of Interest (EoI) to Strengthen Data Systems**, which seeks to deepen data partnerships and align contributors with BHASHINI’s standards of ethical, inclusive, and scalable data practices.

The workshop will wrap up with concluding remarks that reinforce BHASHINI’s commitment to leading the charge in establishing India’s language AI ecosystem through cooperative efforts and enduring collaborations.

Key contributors to the workshop include several prominent figures, such as **Shri Tarun Pandey** from MeitY, **Prof. Girish Nath Jha** from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and leaders from educational and technological sectors. The **BHASHINI Samudaye workshop** promises to be a transformative step toward creating a multilingual, accessible, and inclusive digital public infrastructure in India, advancing the vision of democratized and scalable AI for social and economic empowerment.
