Bharat Innovates Exposition Set to Highlight India’s Deep-Tech Innovations
The Union Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, is gearing up to host the ‘Bharat Innovates Exposition’ on September 11-12, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This event aims to present India’s cutting-edge deep-tech innovations, coinciding with the 18th BRICS Summit, which India will chair on September 12-13, 2026.
Showcasing India’s Innovation Ecosystem
Bharat Innovates is a pioneering initiative launched by the Union Ministry of Education. It acts as a global accelerator for innovations emerging from the Indian higher education landscape. The program seeks to establish enduring collaborations between India’s innovation ecosystem—including startups, higher education institutions, labs, and research parks—and global partners such as corporations, investors, universities, and research institutes.
A Platform for Networking and Opportunities
The upcoming BRICS Bharat Innovates (BBI) Exposition marks the second significant showcase of India’s deep-tech startups in 2026, following the inaugural Bharat Innovates event held in Nice, France, from June 14-16. At the BBI Exposition, 37 noteworthy deep-tech startups will be featured, representing a selection from an initial 120 startups that participated in the earlier event, all aligned with the theme ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.’
Taking place alongside the BRICS Business Forum on September 11, the Exposition offers attendees a chance to network with key players, including CEOs, investors, and industry representatives from BRICS nations. This presents opportunities for business-to-business engagements, technology partnerships, investment conversations, and expanded access to international markets.
Prominent Attendance Expected
High-profile attendees, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Education Pralhad Joshi, and various BRICS leaders, are anticipated to visit the exposition. The event will also draw senior delegates and business leaders from BRICS Member Countries on September 11-12, reinforcing the significance of this forum for fostering international collaboration.
Valuable Exposure for Startups
For the participating startups, the BBI Exposition presents an esteemed platform to translate domestic innovation into global commercial and diplomatic success. They will have direct access to influential BRICS CEOs and investors, visibility at the government-to-government level, and opportunities for structured matchmaking facilitated by organizations like FICCI, CII, and ASSOCHAM.
Building on Previous Success
The initial Bharat Innovates 2026 event was held under the India–France Year of Innovation and co-inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. It showcased India’s top 120 deep-tech startups across 13 thematic areas, attracting over 2,000 participants from 29 countries and resulting in the formation of more than 30 collaborative agreements and funding commitments totaling $254.5 million.
Enhancing Education Collaboration
The Bharat Innovates Expo builds on the Ministry of Education’s initiatives during India’s BRICS Chairship. Earlier this year, it hosted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting and the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting on Education in Bhubaneswar, culminating in the adoption of a declaration that focuses on collaboration across multiple educational priorities.
