Bank of Baroda Launches AI-Powered Multilingual Platform bob SAMVAD

In a significant move towards enhancing customer engagement, Bank of Baroda has launched its innovative platform, bob SAMVAD. The formal unveiling took place on March 28th, 2026, in Mumbai, with Shri M. Nagaraju, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, leading the event. This groundbreaking initiative marks the first of its kind in the banking industry, aiming to revolutionize communication between customers and branch staff.
Bob SAMVAD is an AI-enabled multilingual conversational platform designed to break down language barriers in banking. It allows customers to interact with branch personnel in their preferred languages, fostering seamless communication. This initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to inclusivity and customer satisfaction.
Empowering Customer Interactions
Shri M. Nagaraju praised Bank of Baroda for leveraging technology to enhance customer experience. He highlighted how bob SAMVAD is set to make banking more accessible by promoting efficient service delivery. “This initiative sets a new benchmark for the sector,” he remarked.
In addition to the technology launch, Shri Nagaraju explored another of the bank’s green initiatives, bob Forest. This initiative, following the earlier bob Earth, Green Deposits, and Green Bonds projects, underscores the bank’s dedication to sustainability and environmental goals. Bob Forest is a 6,000 sq. ft. ecological space located at the bank’s BKC office, designed to foster biodiversity and clean air.
Innovative Communication Solutions
Dr. Debadatta Chand, Managing Director and CEO of Bank of Baroda, emphasized the bank’s initiative, stating, “With bob SAMVAD, we are leveraging AI to create branches that are inclusive and customer-friendly. This technology allows for real-time conversations in local languages, reflecting our commitment to operational excellence.”
Developed entirely in-house, bob SAMVAD utilizes advanced AI-driven speech and language technologies to facilitate low-latency, two-way communication across 22 languages. This ensures accurate contextual understanding and natural fluency among different languages, embracing India’s rich linguistic diversity.
The platform allows customers to communicate their queries in their chosen language, which get translated instantly for branch staff, ensuring effective and efficient interactions. Additionally, the system supports text display of conversations and provides an optional voice mode for those who prefer audio over text, making the service accessible to everyone.
The initial phase of bob SAMVAD will roll out in 250 branches across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Following this, a large-scale deployment throughout the bank’s extensive branch network is planned.
