Bank Holidays in August 2026: Locations and Dates for Bank Closures

August will see multiple bank holidays across India, affecting branch operations in various states. Customers planning to visit their local bank should check the holiday calendar, as closures will vary by region due to local festivals and observances. Additionally, banks will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, in line with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines. While digital banking services will remain operational, branch services will be unavailable on these days.

Bank Closures by Date

Several specific dates in August will see banks closed in different states. On August 4, banks in Tripura will shut for Ker Puja. Sikkim will observe a closure on August 8 for Tendong Lho Rum Faat. Patriot’s Day on August 13 will result in bank closures in Manipur. Nationwide, banks will close on August 15 for Independence Day and Parsi New Year.

Further closures include August 19, when banks in Tripura will be closed for the Birthday of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. On August 25, banks in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh will observe Milad-Un-Nabi/First Onam. A larger number of states will see closures on August 26 for Id-E-Milad and other regional observances. Finally, on August 28, banks in several states, including Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, will close for Raksha Bandhan and other local festivals.

Despite these holidays, digital banking services will remain available. Customers can utilize internet banking, mobile apps, ATMs, and UPI platforms for transactions such as fund transfers and bill payments. However, services that require a bank visit, like cheque processing and large cash transactions, will not be available on these holidays. Customers are encouraged to plan accordingly.
