Ayushman Arogya Shivir Promotes Health Among Government Officials
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently hosted a successful three-day Ayushman Arogya Shivir from July 22 to 24, 2026, at Kartavya Bhawan in New Delhi. This health camp, organized by the Central TB Division in partnership with the Delhi State TB Cell and the National TB Elimination Programme, aimed to enhance preventive healthcare and increase awareness about healthy living among government officials working in the Kartavya Bhawans.
Inauguration and Activities
The event kicked off at Kartavya Bhawan-I on the morning of July 22, where Smt. Aradhana Patnaik, the Additional Secretary and Mission Director of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, officially inaugurated the camp. During her address, she emphasized the need for prioritizing preventive healthcare and encouraged attendees to take charge of their health and well-being. The activities continued to Kartavya Bhawan-II on July 23, featuring Dr. Shobini Rajan, Deputy Director General of the Central TB Division, who spoke with participants about the significance of early detection and preventive healthcare in realizing a tuberculosis-free India. The health camp concluded at Kartavya Bhawan-III on July 24, ensuring maximum reach among government personnel across multiple office locations.
Response and Health Services
The initiative received an enthusiastic response, with over 1,700 government officials and staff from more than 16 ministries receiving free health screenings and consultations. Health assessments included various tests such as blood pressure measurement, blood sugar testing, Body Mass Index calculation, hemoglobin estimation, chest X-ray screenings, and referrals for further medical consultation.
Innovative Diagnostic Facilities
A key feature of the Shivir was the use of two Ni-kshay Vahans, mobile diagnostic units equipped with Digital Chest X-ray, CBNAAT, and TrueNat testing facilities. These vans provided on-site tuberculosis screening, enabling rapid molecular testing and referrals for suspected cases, thus bolstering efforts under the National TB Elimination Programme.
Team Efforts
The success of the three-day camp was made possible by the dedication of around 60 healthcare providers, including doctors, laboratory personnel, radiographers, and volunteers, who worked together to ensure effective healthcare delivery and awareness throughout the event.
