The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has announced the opening of applications for its upcoming Internship Programme for the August–September term. This initiative is geared towards empowering women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers from various educational backgrounds. Eligible candidates are invited to apply online and contribute to meaningful government initiatives.

Eligibility and Application Process

Women candidates aged between 21 to 40 years, originating from non-tier-I cities and rural areas across India, are encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official Internship Programme portal: http://wcd.intern.nic.in/. The application window opens from the 1st to the 10th of the month prior to the start of each term. Notably, candidates selected for one term will not be eligible to apply for subsequent terms.

About the Internship Programme

The Internship Programme is structured to run in four terms during the financial year: May–June, August–September, November–December, and February–March, each lasting two months. This program is designed to familiarize participants with the Ministry’s policies and initiatives, offering them a chance to engage in pilot projects or micro-studies that align with the Ministry’s ongoing activities.

Goals of the Programme

Through this internship, the Ministry aims to harness the capabilities of young talent, providing them with opportunities to influence the enhancement of various schemes and engage actively in policy-making processes. Interns will have the chance to conduct research and participate in meaningful discussions regarding government initiatives, allowing them to present their findings through empirical analysis, reports, policy papers, and briefs.

Networking Opportunities

This initiative also offers interns a platform to interact with Ministry officials and other government entities, facilitating collaboration with key stakeholders committed to advancing the welfare and empowerment of women and children. This engagement helps to bridge existing information gaps concerning critical issues affecting this demographic in the country.
