Amazon Cancels Citadel Spin-Offs, Focuses on Main Series

Amazon has officially canceled its spin-off series Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana after their inaugural seasons. The main Citadel series, featuring stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, is set to return with a second season in 2026, accompanied by an official synopsis that hints at thrilling developments ahead.

Spin-Offs Not Renewed

Vernon Sanders, the head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, confirmed the cancellation of the Indian and Italian narratives from the Citadel franchise. He stated, โ€œAlthough these popular and well-received international chapters wonโ€™t move forward as standalone series, Season 2 of Citadel will be our most thrilling installment yet.โ€ This decision comes in the wake of the unexpected departure of Jennifer Salke, the former head of Amazon MGM, who had been a strong advocate for the ambitious global spy thriller project.

The cancellation of the spin-offs was not entirely unexpected, as the series struggled to find its footing. However, Sanders remains optimistic about the future of the main series, promising high-stakes storytelling and a bold cinematic experience. He also hinted at the introduction of exciting new cast members, raising anticipation for what lies ahead.

Upcoming Season Promises Excitement

The second season of Citadel is currently in post-production and is expected to delve deeper into the emotional journeys of its central characters: Nadia, played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas; Mason, portrayed by Richard Madden; and Orlick, played by Stanley Tucci. The official synopsis poses a gripping question: โ€œNow the powerful syndicate, Manticore, is rising in the void. Can the Citadel agents recollect their past and summon the strength to fight back?โ€ This sets the stage for a dramatic and action-packed continuation of the story.

Returning cast members include Leo Woodall, Ashleigh Cummings, Paul Bazely, Roland Mรธller, and Moira Kelly, among others. Fans can look forward to a thrilling narrative that promises to keep them on the edge of their seats when the series premieres worldwide in the second quarter of 2026.

Streaming Availability

For those eager to catch up, the first season of Citadel, along with its now-canceled spin-offs Citadel: Diana and Citadel: Honey Bunny, is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. This allows viewers to immerse themselves in the world of the secretive spy agency before the highly anticipated second season arrives.
