Amazon and MX Player Join Forces for Free Films

On January 30, 2025, a star-studded event took place at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. The occasion was the Amazon MX Playerโ€™s StreamNext 2025, where prominent film personalities gathered to promote their shows. Celebrities like Bobby Deol, Suniel Shetty, Malaika Arora, Remo Dsouza, and Saba Azad graced the stage. The event also featured key figures from Amazon, including Girish Prabhu, Head of Amazon Ads, Karan Bedi, Head of Amazon MX Player, and Amogh Dusad, Head of Content. They discussed the collaboration between Amazon and MX Player, highlighting the evolving digital landscape. One of the most exciting announcements was that several films previously available only on OTT platforms would now be accessible for free.

Exciting New Offerings on MX Player

The collaboration between Amazon Prime Video and MX Player marks a significant shift in how audiences can access popular films. Amazon Prime Video operates as a Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) platform, requiring users to pay for a subscription to enjoy its extensive library. In contrast, MX Player is an Advertising-Based Video on Demand (AVOD) platform, allowing viewers to watch content for free, albeit with advertisements. This partnership means that select films from Amazon Prime Video will now be available on MX Player without any cost to users.

Among the notable films included in this new offering is the Hindi version of “Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01.” Other licensed films now accessible on MX Player include “Drishyam 2,” “Ram Setu,” “Heropanti 2,” “JugJugg Jeeyo,” and “Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.” Additionally, Amazon original films such as “Jai Bhim,” “Gehraiyaan,” “Coolie No 1,” and “Sardar Udham” will also be part of the lineup. This move not only broadens the audience reach for these films but also enhances the viewing experience for fans who prefer free content.

Future Expansions and Upcoming Titles

The partnership between Amazon and MX Player is set to expand, with plans to include more films in the future. During the announcement, glimpses of highly anticipated titles like “Ponniyin Selvan” and “Sita Ramam” were showcased. While these films are not yet available on the platform, their inclusion in future offerings is eagerly awaited by fans. This expansion reflects the growing trend of making high-quality content more accessible to a broader audience.

The collaboration also signifies a shift in the streaming landscape, where traditional subscription models are being complemented by ad-supported options. This approach allows viewers to enjoy popular films without the financial commitment of a subscription. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, partnerships like this one between Amazon and MX Player are likely to become more common, providing viewers with diverse options for entertainment.
