Akshay Kumar Takes on Jim Corbett-Inspired Role in Priyadarshan’s Upcoming Forest Adventure
Akshay Kumar is set to reunite with acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan for their ninth collaboration, which promises to take a fresh direction from their previous comedic ventures. This new, yet-untitled project will focus on wildlife conservation, with Kumar portraying a character inspired by the legendary hunter and naturalist Jim Corbett. The film aims to blend comedy with elements of a thriller, set against the backdrop of 1960s India.
A Journey from Hunter to Conservationist
The film will center around Kumar’s character, a hunter and tracker who initially gains fame for his skills in eliminating man-eating tigers and leopards that threaten his village. However, as the story unfolds, he undergoes a significant transformation. According to a report from Mid-Day, “Akshay’s character, a hunter and tracker, learns to read the forest long before becoming a famous hunter. He kills several man-eating tigers and leopards that terrorise his village. Later he becomes an advocate of wildlife conservation as he understands the devastating impact of poaching and deforestation, and realises that preserving their habitat is important.”
This narrative arc will highlight the impact of hunting and deforestation on wildlife and their natural habitats, ultimately leading the protagonist to protect the very creatures he once hunted. The film aims to deliver a strong message about conservation while maintaining a comedic tone, a hallmark of Priyadarshan’s storytelling style.
Filming Plans and Production Timeline
Priyadarshan is gearing up for pre-production, which is expected to commence in October. Filming is slated to begin in January 2027. The director plans to shoot the film entirely in forest locations, with a recce scheduled in the jungles of Rajasthan and Gujarat following the release of his upcoming film, Haiwaan. “The movie will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule in a forest,” a source revealed.
As of now, the female lead for the project has not been finalized, and further details regarding the cast and the film’s title are anticipated to be announced in the coming months.
A Long-Standing Collaboration
This project marks the ninth collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan, who have previously teamed up for several successful comedies, including Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Bhagam Bhag, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Their latest film, Haiwaan, is set to release on September 11, 2026.
