Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on 77th On Independence Day today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that the government is working with Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHG) with the aim of creating 2 crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’ in the villages. The Prime Minister noted that 10 crore of women are now associated with women’s self-help groups. “Today in the villages you can find a Didi in the bank, in the Anganwaadi and a Didi to supply medicines”.
The Prime Minister spoke about agri-tech and proposed exploiting the potential of science and technology in rural development. The prime minister said 15,000 women’s self-help groups would receive loans and training in using and repairing drones. “Drone ki Udaan” will be implemented by these women’s self-help groups, the prime minister said.
