Ahmedabad Metro Phase-2 Extension Approved by Cabinet
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, announced a significant development for the residents of Ahmedabad as the Union Cabinet has approved the extension of the Ahmedabad Metro Phase-2 project. Designed to improve connectivity, this new metro line will stretch from GIFT City to Shahpur, with an estimated investment of ₹1,067 crore. The extension aims to provide affordable, convenient, and rapid transit options for the region, boosting educational and commercial activities.
Boosting Transportation Infrastructure
In a series of posts on the social media platform ‘X’, Shah expressed his excitement, stating this new metro line will enhance the region’s transportation infrastructure significantly. The initiative is expected to facilitate improved access for residents, thereby invigorating various sectors including education and business.
Investment in Railway Projects
Shah further highlighted that the prime minister has also approved four multi-tracking railway projects worth ₹9,072 crore. These projects include the doubling of the Gondia–Jabalpur rail line and the development of third and fourth railway lines connecting Pundrak to Kiul and Gamharia to Chandil. This upgrade is poised to advance industrial and tourism activities across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar, promoting regional economic growth.
New Terminal at Srinagar Airport
Additionally, the Union Cabinet has given the green light to the construction of a new Integrated Terminal Building at Srinagar Airport. With an investment of ₹1,667 crore, this facility will feature multi-level car parking and advanced security systems across 71,500 square meters. This development is anticipated to invigorate employment opportunities and trade within the Kashmir region.
Advancements in Renewable Energy
In a further commitment to sustainable development, the Cabinet has increased the investment limit for Powergrid to ₹7,500 crore. This decision marks a crucial step towards fulfilling Prime Minister Modi’s vision of abundant renewable energy in India, enhancing investment capabilities to meet the growth aspirations of the populace.
