Adobe Unveils Upcoming AI Agents for Creative Tools

Adobe has provided an exciting glimpse into its upcoming artificial intelligence (AI) agents, designed to enhance user experience across its software platforms. The San Jose-based company aims to develop these intelligent tools to automate manual tasks, allowing users to concentrate on creativity and productivity. Currently in development for applications like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Acrobat, and Adobe Express, these AI agents promise to streamline the creation and editing processes, although they are not yet available for public use.

Adobe Previews AI Agents Across Product Lineup

In a recent blog post, Adobe outlined its vision for various AI agents currently under development. While the term “AI agents” can be interpreted in many ways, Adobe defines them as systems equipped with central intelligence and the capability to access external tools. These agents are designed to analyze problems, generate solutions, and autonomously execute tasks. Adobe’s upcoming suite of AI agents will be tailored for specific roles, offering expertise in areas such as academic research, sales assistance, and tutoring.

For instance, users can upload multiple files to Acrobat and activate the relevant AI agent using a text prompt. The agent will analyze the files, respond to queries, and provide insights, even generating notes for the user. This functionality aims to enhance productivity by allowing users to delegate tasks to the AI, freeing them to focus on higher-level creative work.

Creative Partner in Adobe Express

Adobe is also integrating an AI agent into Adobe Express, a platform that empowers users to create and edit designs for various purposes. This AI agent will serve as a “creative partner,” assisting users throughout the design process. Users can request the AI to generate designs, implement specific changes, or take manual control for further edits. This feature is particularly beneficial for enterprises, which can upload brand-specific materials for the AI to understand and replicate in its designs.

Smaller startups stand to gain significantly from this technology as well, as it can alleviate the workload of design teams by automating parts of the creative process. By outsourcing some tasks to the AI agent, teams can focus on more strategic initiatives, enhancing overall productivity and creativity.

Upcoming Features in Photoshop and Creative Cloud

Later this month, Adobe plans to launch its first “creative agent” in Photoshop, accompanied by a new Actions panel. This agent will analyze images within a project and suggest context-aware edits, allowing users to accept or reject changes with a simple tap. Additionally, users can utilize natural language prompts to access over 1,000 actions, making the editing process more intuitive and efficient.

Adobe emphasizes that the primary goal of this AI tool is not merely to expedite edits but to serve as an assistant that enhances user proficiency with Photoshop. Future iterations of the AI agent will offer feedback and suggestions, helping users learn the platform more effectively while also handling repetitive tasks like asset preparation for export.

Creative Cloud, Adobe’s subscription-based design service, is also set to receive an AI agent. This agent will be capable of executing a series of tasks in the background, allowing users to concentrate on new design projects or skill development. Tasks may include completing ongoing design projects or suggesting next steps in workflows, all contingent on user approval.

Media Intelligence in Premiere Pro

Earlier this month, Adobe introduced an AI agent called Media Intelligence in Premiere Pro. This innovative tool features a new search bar that enables users to locate specific clips in their library by typing natural language queries. The agent can recognize various attributes, including objects, locations, camera angles, and even spoken words or embedded metadata. For example, users can type “close-up of a glass of orange juice,” and the agent will efficiently retrieve the relevant clip from a vast library.

While the Media Intelligence agent is already available, other AI agents remain in development, with potential rollouts later this year. The Photoshop AI agent is expected to be the first to debut, showcasing Adobe’s commitment to integrating advanced AI capabilities into its creative tools.
