Objectives of the Challenge

The WAVES Young Filmmakers Challenge has several key objectives designed to inspire and empower young filmmakers. One of the primary goals is to celebrate diversity. The challenge highlights the unique perspectives and narratives that young filmmakers bring to the screen. By connecting with peers and industry professionals, participants can learn from one another and develop their skills further.

Moreover, the challenge seeks to promote digital literacy among youth. In today’s digital age, understanding how to create and share content online is crucial. This focus on digital skills prepares them for future opportunities in the media and entertainment industry.

Judging Criteria and Registration Guidelines

To ensure a fair and comprehensive evaluation, the WAVES Young Filmmakers Challenge has established clear judging criteria. Participants will be assessed based on their creativity, storytelling ability, technical execution, and overall impact of their films. The judges will look for originality and the ability to convey a message within the 60-second time frame. This rigorous evaluation process ensures that the most deserving films receive recognition.

Registration for the challenge is open from September 2024 until February 15, 2025. Young filmmakers can sign up through the official WAVES website. The first round of the challenge will focus on filmmaking, creativity, and teamwork. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with others, fostering a spirit of cooperation and shared learning.

After the initial round, the top 10 participants from each category will be invited to attend a two-day workshop with renowned filmmaker Amole Gupte at Whistling Woods International in Mumbai. This workshop will provide invaluable mentorship and guidance, helping young filmmakers refine their skills and gain insights into the industry.

Awards and Recognition for Participants

The WAVES Young Filmmakers Challenge offers exciting awards and recognition for participants. Shortlisted films will be showcased at a dedicated WAVES session, where winners will be announced.
