Industry leaders’ role crucial in India’s mission to become Atma Nirbhar: VP
A proactive role must be played by business and industry leaders in India’s quest for becoming an Atma Nirbhar nation, according to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Shri Dhankhar stated that the Indian industry is competent and efficient. it relies upon its entrepreneurial generation to drive economic growth by creating new businesses, jobs, exports, and solutions to developmental issues.
As he inaugurated the 49th National Management Convention of the All India Management Association (AIMA) in New Delhi, the Vice President stressed that the industry has an important role to play in catalyzing qualitative improvements in the agricultural industry as well. He stated that “India progresses if the Indian farmer progresses”.
The Vice President emphasized the various initiatives that the government has taken to upskill and “make India’s enterprises and workforce world-class”, and he urged the industry to take responsibility for upgrading the workforce with the latest skills.
In lauding India’s start-up sector as one of the best in the world, Shri Dhankhar noted the growing number of digital entrepreneurs originating in rural areas and small towns. In addition, he said that Indian human resources are recognized globally and that they should be further harnessed so that India can maximize its global competitiveness.
The Vice President noted that India is poised to become one of the three largest economies by the end of the decade and how a series of systemic reforms taken by the government in the last few years has improved the ease of doing business.
In order to regain India’s glory past, he called for further improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the governance system by incorporating transparency and accountability at every level.
The Vice President presented Fellowships of AIMA to Shir Vijay Kelkar, former Chairman, Finance Commission of India, Shri Raman K Garg, IRS, and Shri Harsh Pati Singhania, former President, AIMA on this occasion. He also released a souvenir for the convention during the event. He appreciated the efforts of AIMA in bringing together the business community and focussing on India’s advantages for growth.
C K Ranganathan, President, AIMA, Smt. Rekha Sethi, Director General, AIMA, Shri Nikhil Sawhney, Vice President, AIMA and other dignitaries were present during the event.
