The police have not yet confirmed whether the detained individual is the same person who broke into Khan’s home and assaulted him. As of now, no arrests have been made concerning the stabbing and trespassing incidents.
Police Detains Suspect Following CCTV Review
The investigation into the attack on Saif Ali Khan has gained momentum. Authorities have been analyzing CCTV footage to identify the suspect. On Friday morning, the suspect was seen being escorted to the Bandra police station. Reports indicate that he was last spotted near the Bandra railway station shortly after the attack. To evade capture, the suspect reportedly changed clothes.
In response to the incident, the police formed 20 teams to comb through technical data and gather information from their network of informers. Search operations have also been conducted in nearby areas, including Vasai and Nalasopara. The police are working diligently to track down the perpetrator and ensure the safety of the community.
Intruder’s Connection to Saif Ali Khan’s Staff
Investigators have made alarming discoveries regarding the intruder’s potential connections. They believe that the assailant may have been acquainted with one of Saif Ali Khan’s staff members. This connection could have facilitated the break-in, allowing the intruder to bypass the CCTV cameras in the building’s lobby.
The building, known as ‘Satguru Sharan,’ is a 12-story structure where Khan resides in a four-floor duplex. The intruder’s familiarity with the building’s layout reportedly enabled him to scale an adjacent compound wall and access the fire shaft, which led him to the upper floors. This insider knowledge raises serious concerns about security and trust within the household.
Details of the Attack and Aftermath
The break-in occurred on the 11th floor and lasted approximately 30 minutes. During this time, Saif Ali Khan and his son’s nanny attempted to fend off the attacker. Both sustained injuries in the struggle. CCTV footage captured the intruder descending to the sixth floor via the staircase before making his escape. Investigators believe he used the fire shaft to exit, skillfully avoiding the building’s main lobby and entrances.
Saif Ali Khan suffered six stab wounds during the altercation. He was promptly taken to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra, where he underwent surgery on January 16. Medical professionals have since confirmed that his condition is stable. The nanny also sustained minor injuries while trying to protect the family. The incident has raised concerns about safety and security for high-profile individuals in Mumbai.
