The 55th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting is scheduled for January 20-24, 2025, in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. This prestigious event will highlight India’s remarkable progress in various sectors. India’s participation at WEF 2025 emphasizes its commitment to shaping a brighter future through collaboration and innovation. The country will explore solutions across five key workstreams: Reimagining Growth, Investing in People, Rebuilding Trust, Industries in the Intelligent Age, and Safeguarding the Planet. The Indian delegation will present a unified vision under the banner of “One Nation, One Voice.” This high-level group will include key ministers and representatives from both the Indian government and various states. Leading the delegation will be Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology. Other notable members include Shri CR Patil, Minister of Jal Shakti, and Shri K. Rammohan Naidu, Minister of Civil Aviation. A significant highlight of India’s participation will be the session titled “AI and FDI: Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Investment.” This session will be co-organized by Invest India and WAIPA, with support from the World Investment for Development Alliance (WIDA). This collaboration aims to promote sustainable and inclusive investment practices globally.
More than 65 Indian business representatives will attend the WEF Annual Meeting, with several companies setting up lounges to showcase their offerings. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) will play a vital role in organizing sessions and media panels to highlight India’s growth story. This active participation reflects India’s increasing appeal as a prime destination for global investment.
Economic Growth and Global Appeal
India’s impressive economic growth continues to attract global attention. The country has surpassed $1 trillion in foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows since April 2000. This milestone is further emphasized by a nearly 26% increase in FDI, reaching $42.1 billion in the first half of the fiscal year.
