Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education and Skill Development, spoke today at the India Today Education Conclave 2022.

Addressing the crowd, the Minister talked about enhancing access to quality & affordable education and bringing our vast population under the formal education and certified skills structure.

He said that creating robust and resilient mechanisms for making education accessible to all is a top priority. Technology-driven approach and initiatives like Digital University, aligned with NEP 2020, will be keys to access to quality education.

Speaking about the National Education Policy (NEP), he said that the NEP 2020 sets the vision and path for meeting the needs of every child right from ECCE and for building a vibrant, equitable knowledge society. He continued, “We’re working on integrating skill education into school and higher education to boost employability.”

When talking about the future of jobs and skilling, he said that jobs are changing, and IR 4.0 provides us with a challenge and a chance to skill, up-skill & re-skill our vast demographic. To harness IR 4.0 and make our youth future-ready, we have to bring a paradigm shift in skilling.

Additionally, he said that NEP 2020 charts the course for students and youth to become global citizens with new-age ideas and skills and emphasizes learning Indian languages for India to become a knowledge economy for the 21st century.
