The PM GatiShakti (PMGS) National Master Plan (NMP), launched by the Prime Minister in October 2021, is now being implemented at the district level to enhance integrated infrastructure planning across India. A series of seven district-level workshops, organized by the Logistics Division with BISAG-N’s technical support, aims to promote the Area Development Approach. These workshops target over 100 districts to empower local officials with the tools and knowledge necessary for effective economic and social infrastructure planning.

The latest workshop, held in Thiruvananthapuram, attracted over 175 participants from 14 districts across Southern India. The event highlighted the importance of utilizing PMGS NMP’s GIS-based technology for disaster management, multimodal connectivity, and social sector growth. Notable officials, including Kerala’s Industries Minister Shri P. Rajeeve and DPIIT Secretary Sh. Rajesh Kumar Singh, emphasized the platform’s role in data-driven decision-making and decentralized planning.

District Collectors from Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana shared successful use cases, showcasing how the portal can address local challenges such as urban flooding, smart freight planning, and tourism development. As PMGS expands its reach, district-level portals are set to launch, further integrating local data into the national planning framework.
