Entire 4000 Tonnes special steel for Indigenous Frigate Ship "Vindhyagiri" supplied by SAIL; Symbolises AatmaNirbharta in defense sector,
Reaffirming its commitment to national defence, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has supplied the entire 4000 tonnes of special steel for Indiaโs 6th Indigenous Frigate, โVindhyagiriโThe frigate ship is part of Project P17A initiative undertaken by the Indian Navy and was built by M/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE). smt. Draupadi Murmu, Honorable President of India, is expected launch the frigate on August 17, 2023.
Steel supplied by SAIL for frigate โVindhyagiriโ includes DMR 249A grade HR Sheets and Plates.
As part of Project P17A, a vital effort involving the launch of seven vessels, the upcoming launch of โVindhyagiriโ marks the successful construction of the sixth vessel. SAILโs involvement in this ambitious project further exemplifies the companyโs ongoing dedication to fostering local growth and innovation in the Indian defense sector.
This significant milestone also comes on the heels of SAILโs notable contribution to the commissioning of INS Vikrant, the nationโs pride and joy, where SAIL supplied the entire 30,000-ton of special steels for the construction of aircraft carriers.
