India Strengthens Commitment at G20 Energy Ministerial in Houston
Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, is set to represent India at the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting in Houston, Texas, from September 14 to 16, 2026. This gathering, part of the U.S. G20 Presidency, will convene Energy Ministers and senior officials from G20 nations to address pivotal topics related to global energy security, affordability, and the development of resilient energy infrastructure.
Minister Lal will engage in key discussions organized under three primary pillars: “Energy Security and Affordable Baseload,” “Permitting and Regulatory Efficiency,” and “Critical Minerals & Resilient Supply Chains.” These sessions aim to enhance energy security and affordability while promoting timely infrastructure development through streamlined regulatory processes. Additionally, the focus will be on establishing secure and resilient critical-mineral supply chains.
During his time at the meeting, Shri Manohar Lal plans to showcase India’s innovative strategies for building a robust, future-ready energy system designed to accommodate its ever-growing energy demands. He will also share insights on enhancing permitting and regulatory efficiency via effective institutional and policy reforms. Moreover, the Minister aims to emphasize India’s commitment to diversification, circularity, and strengthening the entire value chain of critical minerals.
