India and Russia Strengthen Industrial Ties at INNOPROM 2026
During the second day of INNOPROM India 2026, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal and Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Anton Alikhanov visited the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (NICDC) pavilion at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Their visit followed a successful bilateral meeting and marks a significant milestone in India-Russia industrial collaboration.
The Ministers engaged with the NICDC team and were provided insights into various initiatives designed to enhance India’s industrial and manufacturing landscape. The NICDC showcased its efforts within the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), including projects such as Industrial Smart Cities, PM MITRA Parks, and the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA). They also touched upon innovations in digital logistics developed by the NICDC Logistics Data Services Limited (NLDSL).
Fostering India-Russia Cooperation
The dialogue emphasized avenues for cooperation between India and Russia in sectors like manufacturing technology, localization, and investment opportunities. The NICDC pavilion has drawn significant attention from both domestic and international stakeholders, including industry representatives, investors, and technology firms. Visitors expressed a strong interest in India’s readiness for industrial development, focusing on aspects such as infrastructure, connectivity, land availability, and the potential for setting up manufacturing hubs.
Shri Rajat Kumar Saini, IAS, who is the CEO & MD of NICDC, also visited the pavilion to oversee the ongoing investor engagement activities. The NICDC has been busy facilitating B2B meetings with Russian counterparts and BRICS delegates, discussing manufacturing partnerships, technology collaboration, and potential projects within India’s burgeoning Industrial Smart Cities.
Sectoral Engagement and Future Prospects
Discussions spanned numerous sectors, including advanced engineering, machinery, automotive, energy, and pharmaceuticals, showcasing India’s diverse industrial capabilities. The NICDC underlined the advantages of its Industrial Smart Cities in attracting foreign entities aiming to establish or expand their manufacturing presence in India. These smart cities offer not only serviced industrial land but also high-quality infrastructure and multimodal connectivity.
The interest observed at the NICDC pavilion on INNOPROM’s second day signals a robust international appetite for India’s industrial growth and the investment opportunities it presents. As India hosts the first edition of INNOPROM, it has opened a platform for meaningful exchanges among government officials, industry leaders, and investors from both nations aimed at enhancing industrial and technological cooperation.
NICDC plans to continue its outreach efforts and investor interactions on the final day of INNOPROM India 2026, set for September 11, 2026. Their aim is to progress discussions that have taken place throughout the exhibition, thereby supporting the Government of India’s initiatives to boost domestic manufacturing, attract global investments, and create competitive industrial ecosystems under the Make in India and Viksit Bharat @2047 initiatives.
