Corporate Mitra Course Launched for MSME Support

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICoAI), under the direction of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), have officially launched the Corporate Mitra Course, punctuated by the registration of 2,879 learners in its inaugural batch. This course is part of a pivotal initiative that aims to fortify Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by providing them with skilled paraprofessionals.

Course Overview and Objectives

Unveiled during the Union Budget 2026-27, the Corporate Mitra initiative seeks to establish a cadre of trained and certified professionals to assist MSMEs with business and regulatory compliance. Partnering with leading educational institutions such as IIT Madras, IIT Madras Pravartak, and SWAYAM Plus, this program aims to align professional accountability with technological and academic prowess.

Launch Event Highlights

The course was launched in a vibrant ceremony held at the ICAI Head Office in New Delhi, attended by notable dignitaries including Smt. Anita Shah Akella, Joint Secretary of the MCA, and President and Vice-President of ICAI, CA. Prasanna Kumar D and CA. Mangesh P. Kinare, respectively. The event further saw participation from leaders of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, highlighting a united front among professional institutes.

Skills Development for MSMEs

The Corporate Mitra Course is designed to create a skilled workforce that can deliver affordable professional support to MSMEs, enhancing the ease of doing business and fostering inclusive economic growth. According to Smt. Anita Shah Akela, the initiative aims to demystify compliance for entrepreneurs, shifting it from a potential stumbling block to an enabler of trust and accountability.

Course Structure

This course spans 12 months, divided into two distinct phases. The first six months consist of around 150 hours of structured academic learning, featuring pre-recorded video lectures. The latter half includes on-the-job training at professional firms associated with ICAI, ICSI, and ICoAI, enabling learners to gain practical experience in the workplace.

Learning Ecosystem

The academic framework is designed to furnish learners with a holistic understanding of MSME operations and their support requirements. The digital platform provides access to expert-led lectures, reference materials, assessments, and an interactive forum for discussions, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

The inception of the Corporate Mitra Course signifies a major milestone in nurturing a skilled group of paraprofessionals, poised to significantly impact the growth and formalization of India’s MSME sector.
