ECL Launches Special Campaign 6.0 to Tackle E-Waste

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has officially launched Special Campaign 6.0, a major initiative aimed at tackling electronic waste under the ‘Waste to Wealth’ and ‘eWaste Management’ themes. This dual approach, backed by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and the Ministry of Coal, signifies ECL’s ongoing commitment to workplace cleanliness, sustainability, and operational efficiency.

Campaign Focus and Phases

The campaign targets effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste, structured around four pivotal areas: E-Waste Management, Pendency Reduction, Space Optimisation, and Digitalisation. ECL plans to execute the campaign in two distinct phases. The Preparatory Phase will run from September 15 to September 30, 2026, leading into the Implementation Phase, scheduled from October 2 to October 31, 2026. This structured approach aims to ensure that all aspects of the campaign are carefully managed and executed.

Leadership and Participation

The campaign was launched in an official ceremony by CMD, ECL, Shri Satish Jha, who emphasized the importance of collective participation among employees to achieve the campaign’s objectives. He encouraged active involvement from all staff members to ensure the successful implementation of Special Campaign 6.0. Notable attendees included ECL’s Director (Finance) Shri Md. Anzar Alam, Director (HR) Shri Gunjan Kumar Sinha, Director (Technical/P&P) Shri Girish Gopinathan Nair, and Director (Technical/Operations) Shri Chitranjan Kumar, along with the Nodal Officer – Special Campaign 6.0, Shri Nazrul Islam, and various General Managers.

Goals and Environmental Impact

Under the banner ‘Act Today, Impact Tomorrow,’ ECL’s campaign will focus on systematic approaches to the responsible disposal of electronic waste. It also aims to promptly address pending public grievances and communications from various stakeholders, including Members of Parliament and State Governments. In addition to e-waste management, the campaign will emphasize space optimisation by identifying and removing scrap, obsolete, and unserviceable items that occupy valuable office space.

Promoting Sustainability

In its endeavor for a more sustainable workplace, ECL is set to promote digitalisation to reduce paper usage and enhance operational efficiency. This commitment is part of a broader effort to support eco-friendly practices across all levels of the organization. By undertaking these measures, ECL aims not only to improve internal processes but also to contribute positively to the environment.
