Hackathon Extended: Innovate India’s Labour Ecosystem with AI
The Ministry of Labour & Employment has announced an extension for submissions in its nationwide Ideation Hackathon, titled “Digital Shram Sankalp: Reimagining India’s Labour Ecosystem with AI.” Initially launched on August 5, 2026, the event is aimed at gathering innovative and technology-driven solutions to enhance India’s digital labour ecosystem. Participants now have until September 18, 2026, to submit their ideas, following a positive response from applicants.
This Hackathon, hosted on the Innovate India platform via MyGov, seeks implementable and scalable proposals that can strengthen three key digital platforms managed by the Ministry: eShram, the National Career Service (NCS), and the Shram Suvidha Portal 2.0. Ideas leveraging emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, and interoperable digital systems, are encouraged.
Proposed solutions should focus on improving employment services, worker welfare, compliance ease, accessibility, user experience, data quality, system integration, and citizen-centric service delivery. Participants are required to work within 12 specified problem statements that address various facets of the Ministry’s digital labour ecosystem.
So far, the Hackathon has received an impressive response, with approximately 1,000 users contributing a total of 1,368 ideas related to the outlined challenges. This platform provides a unique opportunity for students, start-ups, innovators, entrepreneurs, institutions, researchers, and technology professionals to impact the digital landscape that supports workers, job seekers, employers, and establishments throughout India.
Notably, the top five submissions under each problem statement will be rewarded with cash prizes, while all eligible participants will receive a Digital Certificate of Participation issued by the Ministry. Additionally, winning participants might be invited to showcase their proposals to senior officials within the Ministry. Ideas deemed promising may also be considered for pilot implementation, ensuring that contributors receive proper recognition and credit for their creativity and innovation.
The extension of the deadline gives participants an additional opportunity to refine and enhance their submissions. Those who have not yet entered are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this chance to secure their ideas by the September 18 deadline.
