Seminar Explores AI’s Role in Homoeopathy and Healthcare
The National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health (NHRIMH), part of the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) under the Ministry of Ayush, hosted a national seminar today focused on the “Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Clinical Practice and Homoeopathy.” This event, themed “Where Intelligence Meets Compassion,” drew together a diverse group of experts, academicians, researchers, clinicians, practitioners, and students, all eager to discuss the innovative role of AI in healthcare and homoeopathic research.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, addressed the participants via a virtual platform. He recognized the increasing significance of AI in healthcare and stressed the need for informed conversations regarding its ethical use, especially in the realm of Homoeopathy.
The seminar initiated with an address from Dr. Subhash Kaushik, Director General of CCRH, who emphasized the necessity for researchers and academicians to comprehend both the potential and ethical concerns surrounding AI. He warned that ensuring responsible implementation of AI in healthcare and research is vital.
Panel discussions highlighted that while AI holds promise for enhancing healthcare, it must be accompanied by human oversight, scientific validation, credible data, and ethical protections to prevent misuse.
During the seminar, nine Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with various Homoeopathic Medical Colleges and Hospitals aimed at reinforcing academic cooperation in psychiatry and mental health. An additional MoU was established with Sevabharathi, Ettumanoor, targeting interdisciplinary research and institutional collaboration.
Dr. Debadatta Nayak, Assistant Director (Homoeopathy) and Officer-in-Charge of NHRIMH, noted the active participation of representatives from approximately 12 Homoeopathic Medical Colleges across India, alongside practitioners and faculty members from Kerala. This gathering created a rich environment for academic exchange regarding AI’s potential in healthcare and Homoeopathy.
Other distinguished speakers included Dr. K. C. Muraleedharan, Deputy Director General of CCRH, Dr. Janardhanan Nair, Former President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH), and Prof. (Dr.) Eswara Das, Chairman of the Regional Scientific Advisory Committee at NHRIMH. The seminar’s technical program consisted of four dedicated sessions that explored AI’s role in clinical decision support, practical applications in Homoeopathy, and ethical considerations in clinico-fundamental research.
This seminar demonstrates CCRH and NHRIMH’s commitment to fostering scientific innovation, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and responsibly integrating emerging technologies into Homoeopathic research and clinical practices. Through this initiative, the institutes aim to bolster academic and research networks and encourage informed discussions on the opportunities and challenges posed by AI in the fields of healthcare and Homoeopathy.
