Various States and UTs have made strides in fostering community involvement, ensuring source sustainability, managing water quality, and adopting innovative technologies. Recognizing the importance of these developments, the DDWS urges local colleges, universities, and academic institutions to focus on systematic case studies and documentation of effective practices derived from JJM 2.0.
A Call to Document Successes
The initiative sets forth several key actions for States and UTs. They are encouraged to:
- Partner with local educational entities to identify and document selected case studies under JJM 2.0.
- Share research findings through academic journals, newsletters, and online platforms, promoting an evidence-based approach to knowledge dissemination.
- Identify potential case studies and establish connections between academic institutions, District Water and Sanitation Missions (DWSMs), and Gram Panchayats for effective coordination.
- Coordinate tours for higher secondary students to visit key infrastructure like Multi Village Schemes (MVS) and Water Treatment Plants (WTPs), along with modern technological setups such as SCADA and IoT systems.
By facilitating these tours, students will gain firsthand insight into the operations and advancements in water management, enhancing their understanding and engagement with these vital issues.
Goals and Future Aspirations
The ambitious initiative aims to ensure that by the end of September 2026, every district will conduct at least one student tour and produce one published case study or best practice in partnership with local academic institutions. This effort not only seeks to emphasize learning from real-world scenarios but also aims to promote innovative practices that strengthen rural water security.
