Swiggy Dineout Unveils ‘Order-in-Cinemas’ Feature for Seat-Side Food Delivery

On August 25, 2026, Swiggy unveiled an innovative ordering experience called ‘Order-in-Cinemas’ through its Swiggy Dineout platform. This new feature, launched in collaboration with prominent multiplex brands Cinepolis and Asian Cinemas, aims to enhance the dining experience for moviegoers. By integrating technology into the cinema landscape, Swiggy Dineout is set to create a seamless connection between food and film, allowing audiences to enjoy their favorite snacks without missing a moment of the action on screen.

A New Way to Order Food at Cinemas

The ‘Order-in-Cinemas’ feature simplifies the food ordering process for cinema patrons. Customers can scan a QR code located in the cinema halls, browse the menu on the Swiggy Dineout app, place their order, and have it delivered directly to their seats. This four-step journey—Scan, Browse, Order & Pay, and Delivery—promises to make ordering food at cinemas both affordable and convenient. Moviegoers will also have access to upcoming movie releases, trailers, posters, booking links, special screenings, and promotional offers, all from their mobile devices.

This initiative not only enhances the customer experience but also serves as a new revenue stream for cinemas. By increasing the average spend per head, the feature is expected to generate orders that previously did not exist. Additionally, point-of-sale (PoS) players can easily integrate this offering into their existing systems.

Industry Leaders Weigh In

Swapnil Bajpai, CEO of Swiggy Dineout & Scenes, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “Movie-going is an experience built around entertainment, and food continues to be an important part of it. We believe that ordering food should further elevate the movie watching experience for cinema lovers. We are thrilled to partner with leading movie theater brands like Cinepolis and Asian Cinemas, as well as top aggregators to bring this category-defining service to life.”

Devang Sampat, Managing Director of Cinepolis India, added, “FOOVIES was built on a premise that our guests do not think of food and movies as two separate decisions. They think of them as one single outing. Cinépolis has years of global experience in making food a seamless part of the cinema visit, and our early rollout with Swiggy Dineout in India confirmed it.” He emphasized that the effortless ordering process and value-added offers enhance the overall cinema experience.

Rajesh Mishra, Founder and MD of UFO Moviez, shared insights on the integration of this service into their impact ticketing solution. He remarked, “It’s a very simple and elegant solution and I’m sure this is going to give value to the cinema as well as the viewer and improve their overall movie watching experience.” The integration process is already underway, promising a seamless experience for audiences.

Positive Reception from Cinema Partners

Jyesth Narang, Executive Director of Asian Cinemas, noted the positive response to the Swiggy Dineout feature. “We have integrated the Swiggy Dineout feature and it’s getting a great response. Everyone is loving it—customers are very excited as they can order on Swiggy, and the food will be delivered to their seats directly,” he said, expressing gratitude to Swiggy for their support.

With the ‘Order-In Cinemas’ offering, cinemas can also recommend personalized combos and upsell food and beverages, further enhancing the movie-going experience. Swiggy Dineout continues to be a leading dining out and table booking platform in India, connecting over 48,000 restaurants across more than 60 cities.
