India Introduces Smart Roti Maker to Enhance Kitchen Automation
In an exciting development for kitchen automation, the Technology Development Board (TDB) of India has provided financial support to Foodtechnics Pvt. Ltd. based in Bengaluru. Their innovative project, titled “ROTIDO – Compact Automatic Roti Making Machine with Inbuilt Kneader, Pressing and Roasting,” aims to revolutionize the way rotis are made in homes and small businesses across the nation, aligning with India’s push for self-reliance through Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
A Comprehensive Solution for Roti Preparation
The ROTIDO C-150 is designed to streamline the roti-making process by combining multiple functionalities into a single automated system. Capable of producing up to 150 rotis per hour, this compact machine excels in delivering consistent quality while minimizing manual labor. It significantly enhances hygiene and operational efficiency for various users, including households, restaurants, and institutional kitchens.
Innovative Features and Development Journey
The technology behind the ROTIDO C-150 is the result of Foodtechnics’ rigorous in-house research and development. Building on the success of larger models like the ROTIDO R-1000, the new machine caters specifically to domestic users and small-scale operations. Additionally, support under the NIDHI PRAYAS Scheme has been instrumental in moving this project from prototype development to commercialization.
Smart Automation in a Compact Design
A standout feature of the ROTIDO C-150 is its integrated design, which combines a 2 kg inbuilt kneader, an automated dough ball feeding mechanism, a precision pressing system, and advanced three-layer roasting technology. This innovative setup allows for effective synchronization of processes, programmable controls, and an integrated dough weighing system, ensuring that each roti is uniformly thick and consistently roasted, all with minimal human intervention.
Strengthening Domestic Food Processing Capabilities
The introduction of the ROTIDO C-150 aims to bolster India’s domestic manufacturing of food processing equipment, providing an indigenous alternative to existing automated kitchen solutions. The project has the potential to transform operations for restaurants, cloud kitchens, hostels, hospitals, and small food enterprises, significantly reducing labor reliance and improving food quality.
