AIIA Celebrates Successful Conclusion of Saushrutam 2026 Seminar

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, operating under the Ministry of Ayush, recently wrapped up its inspiring three-day international seminar, “Saushrutam 2026,” which concluded on July 17, 2026. The event, held from July 15 to 17, coincided with the noteworthy celebration of Sushruta Jayanti and was preceded by an engaging pre-conference workshop on July 14.
The valedictory session featured prominent guests including Vd. Maneesha Kothekar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), and Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, a Member of Parliament representing South Delhi. They were joined by esteemed guests Dr. Sushrut Kanaujia, President of the Board of Ethics and Registration at NCISM, and Padma Shri Prof. Manoranjan Sahu.
During her address, Vd. Kothekar commended the organizing team for their efforts and emphasized the importance of seminars like Saushrutam in enriching academic and professional engagement within the field of Ayurveda. She noted that initiatives such as this not only recognize Ayurvedacharyas as skilled physicians but also as adept surgeons, and she pledged the Commission’s ongoing support for the advancement of Ayurvedic education and practice.
Expounding on the vision behind Saushrutam 2026, Prof. (Vd.) P.K. Prajapati, AIIA’s Director, described the seminar as a vital global platform aimed at promoting scientific discussions, sharing evidence-based surgical practices, showcasing new technological advancements, and honoring the surgical legacy of Acharya Sushruta. He highlighted the goals of strengthening collaborative efforts between Ayurveda and modern surgical science while fostering innovation and excellence in surgical education.
Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, the Seminar’s Organising Chairman, reiterated AIIA’s commitment to enhancing the quality of surgical practices within Ayurveda and nurturing the Ayurvedic surgical community. His remarks underscored the role of international forums like Saushrutam in achieving surgical excellence.
At the valedictory session, international resource persons were honored for their significant contributions to the seminar. Additionally, AIIA extended its Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Delhi for another five years, reinforcing the partnership between the two institutions towards collaborative research and innovation.
The event also marked the release of the third edition of “Ayushvallari,” AIIA’s annual Hindi magazine, alongside the new publication “Neetra Rogya: Samanya Jankari aur Niwaran,” designed to increase public awareness about eye diseases and dispel common myths using accessible language. A souvenir commemorating Saushrutam 2026 was also presented during the ceremony.
The seminar attracted prominent academicians and surgeons from countries including Thailand, Israel, Austria, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, Greece, and India, facilitating a rich exchange of knowledge and experiences. More than 30 distinguished national experts participated, featuring renowned figures such as Padma Shri Prof. M. Sahu and Padma Shri Prof. K.K. Thakral from leading institutions across the country.
Noteworthy contributors from esteemed modern surgical establishments like AIIMS, SGPGI in Lucknow, Government Medical College Agartala, and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi also engaged in discussions, promoting a multidisciplinary dialogue between Ayurveda and contemporary surgical practices.
The valedictory session also saw the presence of several key figures including Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Vyas, Dean (Ph.D.); Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Yadav, Dean (PG); Dr. Vyasadeva Mahanta, Organising Secretary; along with senior faculty members from AIIA.
Saushrutam 2026 stands as a testament to the ongoing efforts to integrate traditional knowledge with modern scientific advancements, furthering the Ministry of Ayush’s vision for a holistic, evidence-based healthcare ecosystem.
