India and Finland Strengthen Ties Through Tech Collaboration

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal recently engaged with top technology and industrial firms in Finland, marking a significant step in enhancing India-Finland relations. These discussions signal both countries’ intent to boost collaboration in advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, innovation, and sustainable development efforts.

Key Discussions with Nokia

During his visit, Shri Goyal met with senior leaders from Nokia Corporation. Conversations were directed at enhancing partnerships in next-generation telecommunications, including advancements in 5G and 6G technologies. The discussions also covered digital infrastructure, electronics manufacturing, and research and development initiatives. Nokia’s extensive history in India’s telecom landscape was acknowledged, paving the way for future cooperation in emerging digital technologies.

Collaboration with VTT Technical Research Centre

At the VTT Technical Research Centre, one of Europe’s premier research institutions, discussions revolved around collaboration in various fields such as clean technologies, industrial transformation, and advanced materials. Both nations explored potential research partnerships and opportunities for technology transfer between Indian and Finnish institutions aimed at promoting sustainable development.

Engagement with KONE Corporation

The Minister also engaged with KONE Corporation’s Chairman and leadership, focusing on advancements in smart urban infrastructure, elevator and escalator technologies, and sustainable construction solutions. The talks highlighted opportunities to capitalize on India’s fast-growing infrastructure and manufacturing sectors, underscoring shared interests in enhancing local manufacturing capabilities.

Meeting with Kemppi Group

The visit culminated in discussions with the Kemppi Group, where Shri Goyal consulted with the company’s leaders about advanced industrial machinery, welding technologies, and manufacturing innovation. The meetings explored investment opportunities in India’s burgeoning manufacturing sector and the potential for collaboration in innovative areas such as electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Strengthening Economic Partnerships

The series of meetings showcased India’s burgeoning role as a reliable partner in manufacturing and technology, while simultaneously reinforcing the strengthening economic ties between India and Finland.
