India’s Leader Embarks on Historic Three-Nation Tour
Indian Prime Minister is set to embark on a significant three-nation visit to Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand from July 6 to 11, 2026. This tour aims to strengthen diplomatic relations and enhance bilateral partnerships across various sectors.
Connecting with Indonesia
The Prime Minister will first visit Indonesia from July 6 to 8 at the invitation of President Prabowo Subianto. This marks a pivotal moment following the elevation of India-Indonesia relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the Prime Minister’s first visit in 2018. This upcoming trip is particularly noteworthy as it follows President Prabowo’s attendance as the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2025. The Prime Minister’s interactions will focus on deepening the robust ties shared by both nations. During his stay, he plans to engage with the Indian diaspora and visit the historic Prambanan Temple complex in Yogyakarta alongside President Prabowo, celebrating shared cultural heritage.
Strengthening Ties with Australia
After Indonesia, the Prime Minister will travel to Melbourne, Australia, at the invitation of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. This segment of the trip aims to reinforce the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. Discussions will cover key areas like defense and security, trade, investments, education, and mobility. The Prime Minister will also engage with the vibrant Indian community in Melbourne, which plays an integral role in fostering bilateral relations. This visit also provides a platform for both nations to enhance their collaboration in emerging technologies and sports sciences.
Building Bridges with New Zealand
Concluding the tour, the Prime Minister will visit Auckland, New Zealand, at the invitation of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. This visit comes on the heels of Prime Minister Luxon’s trip to India in March 2025. The meetings will focus on boosting economic, trade, and commercial engagements, especially in light of the recently signed Free Trade Agreement. The Indian community in New Zealand has made remarkable contributions across various sectors, and the Prime Minister looks forward to addressing a large gathering during his visit.
